The Importance of Mobility: Learning & LMS365

In our last article we provided a bit of insight into the Modern Digital Workplace. Now, let’s take a closer look at a key component that’s shaping the way learning is consumed and therefore also delivered. Enter the Mobile Learner.

These days it’s hard to find a person in the business world that doesn’t own at least one mobile device. Whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, or some kind of hybrid, the workforce is equipped to stay connected at all times. It’s become more than a trend: it’s a necessity.

When looking to provide learning to your workforce you need to think with the same mentality. Here are 3 reasons why:

  • More connectivity = better learning

Being connected 24/7 means that clocking-in and clocking-out is a thing of the past in most industries, and for training it means that learning never has to stop. With Microsoft tools such as the Office Suite being available through Mobile Apps it’s easy to get work done on-the-go.

With learning platforms like LMS365 that integrate with these apps, courses are accessible at any time and can be completed from anywhere – even while waiting at the doctor’s office or in line for a round of coffee with co-workers. Additionally, mobility bridges the gap for those working in different countries. Knowledge can be shared across borders, making room for global processes and innovative thinking.
  • Drive engagement & increase utilization

The easier it is to gain access to what you need to use, the more you’ll end up using it – makes sense, right? This works on both the front and back-end. If you want to train your employees on some important Health & Safety regulations make your training available on the device they’re most comfortable using. Furthermore, you can keep your partner and customer base informed on any new changes impacting them and make them feel connected.

“The key is to be omnipresent. Use the whole array of channels at your disposal to create an online presence so clients can reach you however suits them best.”

Make people feel like they’re part of a community while simultaneously creating the flexibility they need. Busy schedules often mean that training takes the back seat, but with mobile access that no longer has to be the case. Learners can catch up on tasks when they want, how they want, and in time to meet deadlines.
  • It’s the way of the future

“Wearable technology, IoT (Internet of Things) and improved mobile applications aiding streamlined communication is expected to dictate the future of mobility applications.”

Learning needs to be scalable and going mobile is the way to get there. Being able to pick up where you left off shouldn’t be a luxury feature: employees need to be able to pause training on their desktop at work and move seamlessly to training on their cellphones as they catch the train or a plane, or in the comfort of their homes. This includes access to enterprise education when there is no network to connect to. Companies must consider a LMS’ offline capabilities to ensure that even when offline, employees have access to their courses and results. This is especially relevant for people working in remote areas, on construction sites or en route during business travel.

At ELEARNINGFORCE we understand the importance of mobility and learning on-the-go. Through the recently released LMS365 Mobile App we’ve helped companies keep their training alive by connecting employees in the Office 365 cloud for training on the device of their choosing.
